Horning's Winter Hoedown: Slosh #2
I can sum up the Horning's Winter Hoedown in just the one word, WET!
I started out as a first time TD, a little wet behind the ears, and emerged drenched, but wiser. The Horning's Winter Hoedown was a lot of work, but seeing the 113 players show up in the pouring rain, committed to breaking in the Meadow Ridge Course and ripping out two rounds on the Canyon Course, reminded me why Oregon disc golfers are among the toughest of breeds.
Despite the monsoon-like conditions and the many slips and falls that come with playing in the rain, the Canyon Course saw two aces, scored by Ryan Elston and Phillip Kurtz. Meadow Ridge was taken on by the pros in two rounds. By the end of the second, round Tyler Christensen's smiling face holding his mangled umbrella summed up the many feelings that were scattered among the raindrops and flying plastic. Spirits seemed high despite the nasty weather and so it seemed, a good time was had by all.
Thanks everyone for a great tournament and I can't wait to see you all at the next Slosh series.
